Design My Spare Bedroom – Design 2

Seeing as it’s Wednesday, I think it’s about time for me to reveal design number 2.

Whilst browsing Pinterest I came across these pictures which inspired me, although my spare bedroom is not quite on the same scale as these beauties with their high ceilings & full length sash windows!

I plan on painting the walls in Farrow & Ball ‘Cornforth White‘ which is one of the nicest grey paint tones I’ve come across. I always find grey paint very tricky to get right as the underlying purple, blue, brown undertones can quickly make them look less grey, especially in different lighting. It’s increasingly hard to find a good ‘grey grey’ which I feel F&B have hit on the head with Cornforth White.

The bed frame would be a small double metal victorian style such as this one from Ebay. I’d use crisp white Egyptian cotton bedding such as the Sainsbury’s Everyday Living collection I reviewed here. A thick grey bedspread such as this one from Next along with decorative cushions would make it look even more inviting whilst giving additional texture. Long white drape curtains would sit at the window.

I’m a big fan of Ikea RIBBA frames which are great value for money whilst contrasting against the grey paint. I’d use a selection of these to create a mini gallery wall with old local black & white maps.

Storage furniture would include an old upcycled bedside table & chest of drawers in white which would contrast against the grey. Accessories such as this lamp would be simple & calming.

I’m going to be releasing one more look tomorrow but there’s still time for you to get involved & send me any designs you think would look good – I’ll put forward any suitable ones ready to vote on Friday with the winning design being chosen on Sunday at 8pm.

Love, Charlotte x

I think I prefer the pink one as the grey one reminds me of how it is at the moment in the original Rory colours. Can't wait to see tomorrows. xx

I'm not sure what colours the Pinterest images are but they do look similar to Cornforth White (although heavily edited to make them seem very light & bright no doubt!). Make sure to vote tomorrow! x

That's true – the pink is very different to my usual beige/grey schemes 🙂 x
